Department of Commerce announces new Director to Office of Property Rights Ombudsman

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Francine A. Giani, Executive Director of the Utah Department of Commerce, announced today that effective November 14, 2019 Jordan S. Cullimore has been appointed as the new Director of the Office of Property Rights Ombudsman. The Land Use and Eminent Domain Advisory Board voted unanimously on November 12, 2019 to select Cullimore to succeed former Director, Brent Bateman, who is returning to private law practice.

Cullimore has served as a Staff Attorney with the Office of Property Rights Ombudsman since September 2015. Before joining the Office, he worked for Utah local governments in various planning and zoning capacities. Jordan Cullimore received his B.A. in Political Science from Brigham Young University and obtained his Juris Doctorate from Texas Tech University School of Law where he served as a J. Reuben Clark Law Society Officer. Cullimore is married with 6 children and resides in Riverton, UT.

About the Office of the Property Rights Ombudsman (OPRO): the Utah Legislature established the Office of the Property Rights Ombudsman in 1997. The Office of the Property Rights Ombudsman is engaged every day in protecting and upholding the rights granted to each of us under the Fifth Amendment. This Office is funded by the State, and exists to advise citizens of their property rights and to explain the laws which affect property ownership and development.
